On the Frontline

Ukrainian rioters are are reigniting street clashes with police in the capital Kiev. Protesters are currently stoning the police, with law enforcement reacting with tear gas and other violent measures. And the women are right on the front line.

Following opposition leader Vitali Klitschko's call for women and children to leave Kiev's Independence Square, the Telegraph took a look at how many women actually stayed and participated in the protesting.

A few days before the protests officially began, several women posed for pictures with the demonstrators holding Independence Square Hostage. In another picture, women are preparing Molotov cocktails for the anti-government protestors, much to the government's dismay. In yet another picture, women stand in a line passing rocks to the front of the protests to ensure safety for all demonstrators.

Ukrainian women are clearly unafraid of putting themselves in the line of fire. In fact, as the Telegraph notes, "Helmeted protestors hurling rocks, fireworks, broken paving stones, and Molotov cocktails fought back against black-armoured riot squads targeting them with stun grenades, water cannons, and - some said - live rounds."
