Jobs For People Who Love Data

Love your data? There are jobs out there for you! Take a look at these career options for those that love data.

1. Data Analyst

Data analysts gather and organise enormous volumes of data, then analyse it to make particular business conclusions, such as how to efficiently price items, minimise expenses, or enhance client retention. These professionals ensure that all incoming data is accurate and are in charge of reporting on it as well as analysing it.

Bachelor's degree in an analytics-related subject like math, statistics, finance or computer science is often required for data analytics. Alternatively, students can get entry into the field of data analysis through boot camp-style training.

2. Data Scientist

In contrast to a data analyst, whose primary role is to review and analyse data, a data scientist's primary responsibility is to build the framework within which such analysis may take place. Statistical models and algorithms are implemented, data is tested and analysed, data products are created, and frameworks are constantly optimised to better assess the data and obtain the most accurate business conclusions.

As a data scientist, you normally need a bachelor's degree in computer science or similar discipline, while many employers prefer people with postgraduate degrees.

3. Machine Learning Engineer

A machine learning engineer is a software developer that creates algorithms and models that enable machines to learn and complete tasks without any human intervention. Machine learning engineers also convert data scientists' models into code that can be utilised in production.

Programming skills (including Java and Python) and a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, maths, statistics, or a related discipline are required.
