Not-So-Nice Vintage Dating Advice
Well, Valentine's Day is coming up and it's no mystery that dating is the worst. It's bad enough that you have to worry about getting food stuck in your teeth or forgetting your wallet at home or saying something unfavorable, but past generations had far much more to worry about.
Luckily, dating has gotten a little bit easier in the modern day. Some may argue that it's also gotten more convenient. But, for earlier generations, the culure of dating was truly a difficult one and they did not have a lot of tools at their disposal;
Below are some pieces of vintage advice for the dating scene - try not to laugh!
There were entire books written on the matter (seriously, there's a whole chapter dedicated to dancing etiquette)
Kissing on the first date took some serious consideration (if the girl kissed first, she may seem too eager or too easy, and she should know that she likes the boy before she kisses him)
"When a girl is a teaser...avoid her like the plague."
Have plenty to talk about (come prepared with a piece of paper of topics)
"A warm, friendly relationship with a father helps a girl get alone with boys." (we're not even kidding on that one)
