Meter Monday: "A Beautiful Soul"

by Ashwini Selvakumaran

Dedicated to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. May they rest on forever in heaven.

A day tinted with just a tinge of sadness

A day filled with gloom,

The most beautiful flower in a garden of roses;

Suddenly has failed to bloom.

A miraculous soul filled to the brink of wonder

With a wondrous ability to turn things into gold,

A girl with the most wonderful legacy

One that is never to be forgotten, only told.

Filled with laughter and joy-stained memories

When happiness was in the essence of time,

A trinket a token, a snippet of her;

Her presence so heaven-sent, so divine.

What a beautiful soul, the most beautiful soul

Able to make anyone laugh, anyone smile,

Able to steal the sadness behind the curtains

The girl who would run just to keep you company for miles.

So speak of her as you have always done;

Remember the good times, beckoning laughter, and fun.

Share the happy memories we've made,

Never let them wither, never let them fade.

She’ll come to us during the warm summer's sun,

And when the ever-beckoning winter's chill has come;

She’ll be the voice that whispers ever so quietly in the breeze,

“I'm peaceful now, put your mind at ease.”

Sometimes our final days may be a test,

But remember her when she was at her very best.

Abi has lived a glorious life

filled with wanderlust, triumph and fun,

Live on now, and make her proud of what, we'll become.
