It's Okay to Cry!

It's Okay to Cry!

I cry a lot. I cry at commercials, during movies, when I listen to music. I thought there was something wrong with crying all the time. Thought it was terrible for my health. But, it turns out that crying is okay, it is acceptable. Crying can be very beneficial emotional and physically.

There are different types of tears. Reflex tears clean out your eyes from alien particles when they are irritated. Continuous tears are used to keep the eyes “lubricated.” It protect against bacteria and infections. After a good cry your breathing and heart rate decreases making the body much calmer.

When you’re stressed - cry. Ramsey Medical Center in Minneapolis found that emotional tears contain stress hormones that are excreted from the body through tears. You are literally crying out all your stress. Crying also stimulates the production of endorphins, which we all know make us feel better.

Sometimes crying is seen as a weak thing, but that is not true. People that cry have happier and healthier lives. Just because you are crying doesn’t mean you are sad or depressed. It’s a healthy thing to cry. So don’t worry about suppressing your crying.  Go ahead and watch that movie that makes you cry, the benefits are endless.

For people that have trouble crying, don’t worry, your body does what it needs to. When you need to cry you will.
