What A Wellness Weekend Should Look Like

Wellness: what does that word mean to you? For many it’s the task of tackling things in your life that aren’t making you feel all that great and offsetting them, through a variety of things that help you indulge in yourself. For others it’s a case of doing some hard work to get your brain and body feeling like they’re back on top.

In our opinion, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Wellness is something we should all invest in, but in a way that makes us feel like we’re ready to handle whatever the world throws at us. No matter what that means for you, as long as you come out the other side of a wellness session feeling better than when you went in, you’ve done the job just right.

That’s why so many people plan ‘wellness weekends’. This is a pure, 48 hours of stress free, relaxation time, that may occasionally coincide with finally getting some anxiety-causing activities done. However, both sides of the equation are usually needed! And with all that in mind, let’s go through what a wellness weekend should look like for you.

Activities That Help You Clear Your Mind

The first thing to do on your wellness weekend schedule? An activity that helps your brain to discharge, stay calm, and give you a peaceful headspace. Now this can be anything. For some it’s attending a morning yoga class, for others it’s journaling their feelings, and for a few of us it’s all about completing a sudoku puzzle without even getting out of bed.

Whatever you like to do, that you know gives you some clarity and allows you to just be in the moment with what you’re doing, pepper it throughout the weekend. In doing so, you’ll create a super safe space for yourself that’s relaxing, fun, and literally just lets you have some quiet!

Eating Meals That Taste and Feel Goods

Food is one of the things you should never stop taking seriously. That doesn’t mean you need to immediately go on a diet or start counting your calories - not at all. It simply means that the better you eat, the better you’re going to feel.

As part of your wellness weekend, it’s worth buying in some ingredients that’ll allow you to create both a healthy and tasty meal plan. If you’ve been subsisting off of microwave meals for dinner and a bit of toast for breakfast lately, sit down to make a shopping list that contains all the things you need for something super nutritious and great for digging into.

Each person has their own likes and dislikes when it comes to food, so if you find a recipe that contains something you don’t like, you don’t have to eat it in the name of health. Remember, food should be a positive experience!

Some Time at a Spa

If you’ve never spent time at the spa before, we highly recommend factoring a trip into your next wellness weekend plans.

When you visit a spa, you give yourself the taste of luxury that every person should have access to from time to time. You’re treated like royalty, both your mental and physical needs are addressed, and there’s a lot you can do with your time there.

From all kinds of massages to taking a dip in the pool to spending a few minutes in the sauna, the spa can create all kinds of sensory heavens. Sometimes that’s all you need to feel well again, especially if you’re feeling tension across the body that originates in the mind.

Plus, no matter where you go, there will be a lot of spa packages to choose from. You can choose the treatments that interest you and you don’t have to pay for things that don’t sound quite right. That element of control over your experience is great for anyone who’s felt like life has been spiralling lately!

Plan Your Wellness Weekend Now

If you want to plan a wellness weekend but you’re not all too sure about what you should get up to, ponder over the points above.

Have some time to yourself (unless you need to see some friendly faces!), and pamper yourself in a way that makes you feel good, healthy, and even beautiful.

And remember, you never know when you’re going to hit burn out until you’re already in the throes of it, so a weekend like this every now and then is super good for you.
