Just "Be": 2 Hacks To Help You Begin To Feel Good About Yourself
Learning to look after your mind and body is a lifelong practice. There can be times when we all feel that we hit the wall. We don't feel good about ourselves for a little reason or something pretty seismic. Right now, we're all undergoing a significant challenge in our lives and this means that we've got to hack our happiness and figure out things to make us feel better about ourselves. You may believe this is easier said than done, but what can we all do to bring a little bit of sunshine into our existence?
Look Like The Person You Want To Be
We can look in the mirror and not particularly like who we are. We can all fixate on small, seemingly insignificant issues and blow them out of proportion. A lot of people feel self-conscious about a little thing, whether this is crooked teeth or something about our hair or body. But the fact of the matter is that there are things that we can do to disguise these issues or get rid of them completely, whether it's clear braces to fix crooked teeth or actually diving into a new way of eating to lose those couple of extra pounds that make you feel self-conscious. But the important thing to remember when we are trying to change how we look and become the person that we want is that we've got to be specific in our goals. Saying that we want to lose weight or fix our teeth is not going to cut it! We really have to ask ourselves who we want to be.
Learning To Just “Be"
We can focus on the external components of ourselves and fixate on them but if we really want to make a difference we've got to go inside. There are so many different techniques that we can learn to feel better about ourselves such as practicing gratitude or learning to breathe deeply so we can change the state of our mind, but one of the most important things that we can all benefit from is to just realize that we shouldn't overthink. Learning to recognize that we are having a good or a bad day and not judging it is just as important as fixing the problem. Emotions are a key aspect of our lives but once we start to detach ourselves and recognize that it will soon pass can make us figure out ways to get past these issues. When people meditate and an errant thought comes into their heads they are taught to recognize it is there and just to let it pass. If we can start to apply this to our lives this can give us a newfound sense of perspective on who we are. When we start to think that we are one person out of billions on a planet of potentially billions our problems don't seem so important. And that's not to say that we are all unimportant, but learning to feel good about ourselves is about giving us the license to remember that nothing needs to be perfect.
