Gaining Your Voice As A Woman in 2020
When you look back at women’s rights and equality over the course of the last hundred years or so, its easy to see how far we have all come as a society. Women are allowed a voice and a platform on which they can now be heard, and changes in the way that we all live our lives have meant that women can rise to the top in the workplace.
But there is still such a long way to go in the world. Obtaining perfect equality is still a long way off, even in 2020. While we have women who are world leaders, business owners, and much more, the fact that gender is always brought into the conversation when we talk about them does not imply that we are where we need to be as a society.
The fact that the #metoo movement even needed to be a thing signifies there are graver concerns that affect many women in today’s society, and toxic attitudes are still rampant.
Having a voice is something that is fundamental for all women, and telling your own story as a woman is vital. Here are some things that you can do today to empower yourself and those around you.
Find The Internet Community That Gives You A Voice
There are many great online communities that look to support and empower women from all backgrounds. Reaching out to others is a great way of helping to give each other the lift that we all need to empower ourselves and each other.
If you have a story that you want to tell, or you have questions about your life that you need support in, join an online forum or start a blog.
Read the blogs and sites of others such as Step Up Women's Network where other women tell their stories. This gives you a chance to learn about the issues affected others. There are so many things that are universal, standing together makes it possible to change the status quo.
Be Open About Your Feelings
We live in an age where we have the means of communication. Social media offers you a mouthpiece, and if you are dissatisfied with things that are happening in your life or the world at large, don’t be afraid to speak up.
Of course, look after your own safety and where something could affect your job or put you in physical danger, you should obviously consider where you turn and who you get support from.
Know About The Support That There Is Out There
Find out what is going on in your own local area. There may be women’s groups that set out to attempt to make some real changes to the way that things are done. There might be support groups, or aid charities that aim to help those in need. If you are not in need of supporting yourself, think about giving power to those that are by donating your time to the cause.
