Deciding What To Do With Your Life

One of the most difficult questions you will ever face in life is simply what to do with it. Doing something food with your life isn’t just about finding a good job and being successful it is also about surrounding yourself with people you truly love and making time to do the things you adore the most. It can be easy to become stuck in a rut with life, and so,times we just need a gentle shove in the right direction.

1. Clear Your Mind

Life can become routine sometimes. It can feel as if all we do from day today is get on the same train, work in the same office, talk about the same things: when life becomes so routine it feels totally meaningless. We are reduced to being people trapped on the conveyor belt of life, going one day at a time in this weird world.

The only way to get clarity in this life is to take a step back and breathe for a moment. Go for a walk or a run on the open road, away from any distractions and make sure that you are able to truly think about what you want out of life. Everyone’s motivations are unique, just because your friends think that a career is the most important thing in life doesn’t mean it is. Don’t think of anyone else as you decide on what’s best for you. This is your life and you must take control of it.

2. Take Action

There’s no point in daydreaming of how great your life could be if you never take the initiative to wake up and do what’s right for you. The only way you will ever make a change is to take opportunities and take action on your dreams. If you want to get a better job or learn a new skill, then contact a college consultant: if your dream is to travel the world, apply for a visa! Only you can change your situation, so you must be willing to work for it.

3. Take Small Steps

If your mission is to change a lifestyle habit, but you can’t seem to motivate yourself to commit to this change, you can try implementing it for a small amount of time. There are tonnes of 30 day challenges out there which are great for reprogramming your mind and allowing you to change the way you behave on a subconscious level. If you want to motivate yourself to read more or exercise, take a challenge where every day for 30 days you read 10 pages or hold a plank for 1 minute. It is after this time that your body will become used to this habit and it will become second nature to you.

4. Seek The Wisdom Of Other People

One of the best things that you can do for yourself when looking to make changes in your life or take a new direction is to take the advice of others. It is always good to talk to people who have already experienced things and can give you some helpful tips. Sometimes by simply listening to stories of other people, we can become inspired to make our own dreams come true, it can be the perfect motivation.

5. Get To Know Yourself

Sometimes the difficulty in finding what we want to do in life is that we do not truly know ourselves. It is crucial that we know who we are, what we want or what motivates us to be good people. If you are in any doubt if who you are, take some time away from others and relax. Think about your biggest dreams in life and write them down, what’s most important to you, who you love, what you enjoy… all of these things are instrumental in working out what we should do with our lives. Once you have written all of this down you will have a much clearer view of who you are as a person.

6. Find Your Passion

The last step in deciding what to do in life is to find your skills and your passions. Work out what you are good at and what things you are talented in doing. Once you know where your talents lie you can start to align these with your passions. For example if you are great at looking after people, and you love animals: to could be the perfect candidate for conservation projects. By aligning skills and passion you will truly find the place you belong in life.
