Do You Still Eat Meat? Why I Gave It Up at 14 Years Old

I stopped eating meat when I was 14 years old, even as a child, who loved animals, I could not see them on my plate. The hens and the rooster that met me every morning, running for  towards me for a hug, the lamb that gently licked me with its tongue;they were my friends and who eats their friends?

In the beginning, not eating meat was hard, like any change. My parents were against it, and they thought it was temporary. But I persevered and replaced the meat with salads, potatoes, rice, and fruits. I found that it was so delicious. Healthy-eating books served me as an excellent incentive and learning guide. Being a vegetarian is different, I felt special and was always calm and smiling, the tempting smell of barbecue no longer impressed me. I liked being different because I had overcome one of seven deadly sins- food as pleasure. And I grew up, though not physically, but spiritually.

After a few years, my close friends also decided to try to live without meat. They were fascinated by how well they felt and how their character changed – their anger, anxiety, and fear disappeared. These are the feelings that we take when we eat meat because these are the feelings that animals feel when we humans kill it.

Many years have passed and I have been awaiting my first child. Now was the time to try my once-favorite barbecue that I had long forgotten the taste of. My disappointment was great because I found I didn't like the chicken or the sausage. I had forgotten the taste of all these meat products, and it seemed like I was trying new food that wasn't delicious. So I hadn't missed anything all these years.

I will not write about meat damage because there are many articles on this topic. Each of you must make your choice and feel the need to do so. This is a feeling, not a diet to lose weight. Remember that meat can be completely replaced with legumes, nuts, eggplant, soy, eggs. And we learn more and more about people who have been cured of illnesses thanks to maintaining a healthy diet that includes fruit, vegetables, and eliminates meat. Have you heard of a disease that is treated with meat?

The modern man is far removed from the once primitive being that  killed animals to survive. Now life is different and not aimed at survival but spiritual elevation. Everyone searches for their path and takes  it on, overcoming fears, vices, and false ideals. My journey started when I stopped eating meat and it still continues to this day.
