Cultural Soup: European Cities To Visit Before You Die

Europe changes you. It is a big, busy place filled with people from all walks of life. Broken down into countries and cities, Europe doesn’t feel all that big. That is until you get there! The people come with history and bring a culture explosion across every region that can literally blow your mind.

There are some very popular cities in Europe and each comes with its own background, history and starting point that differs from the rest. The avid travellers bucket list should always include a dose of Europe and knowing where to start is the jumping off point. It’s not just beach holidays and luxury adventures. European Tours are extremely popular and give you the chance to have a guide showing you the places off the beaten track you may miss. Europe is a cultural soup and learning about all the different historic monuments and tasting the delicious food from each area is exciting and educational all at once. Once you’ve made your way through our list of places to visit before you die, you’ll be checking your passport dates and be itching to start packing your bags!

Dubrovnik, Croatia. A city that is ancient, beautiful and packed with a visible heritage, Dubrovnik is walled off but that doesn’t stop the incredible views across the Mediterranean. Stunning monuments, historic walks and a nightlife that is unrivalled, Dubrovnik has it all. Well worth a visit for those searching to immerse themselves in the past.

Amsterdam, Netherlands. You want to ride that bicycle and you want to ride it now. Amsterdam is so much more than its legendary Red Light District, with 17th century architecture to explore, canals to boat along and coffee shops that give you a view of the city. You’ve not experienced a culture like Amsterdam and the only true place to do that is here.

Berlin, Germany. Impressive, vast and full of a rich history, Berlin was the city that was the centre of the Cold War. Enthusiasts of days gone by will find themselves at home here. Artists litter the streets, giving the centre its cosmopolitan label.

Venice, Italy. It’s said that if you sail under the Bridge of Sighs at sunset with the person you love, you’ll be together forever. Well, I don’t know about that, but the city is filled with roads that are made of water. Ferries function as the city buses and the food, oh the food! Pasta puttanesca by the river is an experience not to be missed.

Vatican City, Italy. The Holy City may well be in Venice, but definitely deserves special mention. You cannot possibly be searching for culture and miss out on the masterpiece of the Sistine Chapel, painted by Michelangelo.

Europe is made up of thousands of cities with plenty to explore, but bear in mind that you won’t ever run out of places to visit. You can travel across Europe and still never visit everywhere, but the list we’ve compiled for you is a very good place to start.
