How To Create A More Inviting Garden

Regardless of the size of your garden, it should be a place where you can unwind, relax, and have fun with family and friends.

If your garden feels more like a place to avoid or hide, crowded with playsets and old furniture, it’s time to start tackling it so you can get out there and enjoy it. There always seems to be another project that gets in the way of doing a garden project, but with these tips, you can get started in no time:

Get Rid Of Any Clutter

If your kids have outgrown their slides and swings, it may be time to rethink your yard and perform some major decluttering, pruning and rearranging. Don't forget to throw away or recycle any broken furniture or garden ornaments. Get rid of any clutter and start with an empty clean slate.

With a blank slate to deal with, you should think about what your garden needs to become the kind of place you'd love to escape to and spend time doing things like swimming, working out and entertaining friends and family.

Sun, shade, dining, and fresh air are just some of the benefits that may be enjoyed in a well-designed outdoor space. Take advantage of everything it has to offer once it is clear of clutter and ready for relaxing.

Ample, Relaxed Seating

Under an umbrella, around a pool, on a deck or even on the balcony of a high-rise apartment building, a deep sitting set, lounge chairs, loungers or chaise lounges allow you to stretch out and relax.

You're less likely to sit at a patio dining table, eat a grilled burger, and then go back inside if there's comfy seating available. It should be one of the key pieces in your garden space. You also need to think about the atmosphere by arranging pest control, and adding in lighting, and candles to keep the bugs at bay.

Create A Deck Or Patio That Invites Company

A concrete slab, some cheap patio furniture, and a charcoal BBQ won't do. Make your backyard into a plant-filled, private haven that will have you longing to leave the cosy confines of your living room. Design a patio where you'll want to spend time, whether that's sun bathing, doing yoga, reading, or socialising with friends. You can make it more inviting by decorating with soft furnishings, plants, and lights.

Add Light To Your Decorations

Lighting up the areas of your garden that see the most use in the evening can entice you and your visitors to spend as much time as you like there.

Adding citronella candles to the mix is like shooting two birds with one stone. Both have the capacity to keep mosquitoes away and produce a relaxing mood. So, make sure you include some on your table or in your flower beds.

These are just a few of the ways you can make your garden more inviting. What are you doing to improve your garden this year? We'd love to hear about it in the comments below.
