How To Pump Up Your Creativity
When it comes to creativity, we all have things we want to do, can do, and want to achieve. One of the things that often comes for creatives is that every once in a while, a huge block happens.
The paint doesn’t mix right; the words aren’t flowing, and the new product ideas? Forget about it.
It is so frustrating to be in a line of work or have created your own career and to be hit with a creativity block, No muses, no inspiration, and no flashes of lightning to help you through.
There are many ways that you can see your creativity come to life, though - and sometimes it will take a mixture of all of them to get there.
Creativity isn’t a one-stop shop, though; inspiration can come from many places.
Let’s take a look at what you can do to help spark light a creative fire.
Turn it around
Working backward is one of the ways that you can find a solution. Look at the problem you are trying to solve from the opposite end. This can work for things like poetry, articles, painting, and more too. Consider what you’re trying to create.
What do you want to say?
What is the feeling you want people to be left with?
How could this be achieved?
How would (a famous person or person who inspires you) do it?
Get rid of things like ‘should’ too. When you impose rules like this is how something should be, you are restricting yourself from exploration of what could be.
Relax
Sometimes the more you focus on not being able to do and the block that has presented itself, you can’t see beyond it. When we relax, our brain has a chance to process things in a different way. It makes connections that perhaps we didn’t see.
There are lots of different things that you can do to relax and let your brain make connections. Walking in nature, napping, watching movies, heading to art galleries and museums, microsoding with truffles, relaxing teas, and the cannabis flower all have positive impacts on our minds and bodies.
Hard Stuff
When we are faced with things we don’t want to do, it can stop us from being able to see the good that could happen after. We focus so much on the thing we don’t want to do that it becomes an obstacle.
You might’ve heard of eating the frog, and that is when you just do the thing you don’t want to do first. Most of the time, the tasks don’t take more than an hour, and you’ll feel a lot lighter just getting it done.
Podcasts
While millions of people have been enjoying podcasts for years, some people are yet to find one they love. One of the best things about them, though, is that there are thousands to choose from. No matter what it is that you do, there will be someone covering it as a topic.
For creativity specifically, here are some great options:

Learn Something
Perhaps you have been in the same industry for a long time - and somewhere along the way, there will be new techniques and theories. New materials and new things to explore. When was the last time that you explored and learned new things?
Take a look online for free courses, videos, and blogs that talk about what you do. There will likely be some nuggets of wisdom in there that you can apply to what you are doing. It could change how you move forward.
Something Different
Creative people usually dabble in a lot of different things. One can feed into the other. For example, photography can feed into painting and writing, writing can feed into marketing activities, and painting can unlock emotions and feed into other things.
Try and do something in a different creative field and see what comes from that. Here are some unusual ways to start thinking outside the box: 4 Exercises To Improve Your Creative Thinking Skills.
