The chances are that as a parent, you already know that success for your children starts at home. You know that the way you raise them is going to have an impact on how they turn out, and that their failures are as much yours. The good news? Don't panic. There are plenty of studies to show that children can thrive if they are put into the right environment. Your home can be that environment; you just have to work out what your child needs the most from you to grow.

With regular habits, routines, the occasional help from an adaptive math program and an open line of communication, your children can find success in their schooling. They won’t have to panic that they aren’t good enough: you’re going to make sure that they feel that way. Below, we’ve put together some of the best tips that you need to know to help your child to thrive.

  1. Make sure to enforce healthy habits. From a good breakfast to evening exercise, your children are going to thrive when they are at their healthiest. Routines are crucial here, as this will help to improve mental health as much as physical health. Everything requires balance, and whether they love to partake in sports or they love to walk on the beach, you can facilitate their needs.

  2. Keep a learning routine. Children really do thrive on structure, and you can help them to feel that they are supported and they can respond well when you help them to better organize their days. If you keep the same routines every morning and evening, you’re going to ensure that your children know what’s coming, which can help them to feel secure.

  3. Make getting organized easy. Create a space for your children to put their things in every day. Whether you make a space in the hall or you choose a box for them to throw their shoes and bag into, they can feel that there is less chaos at school if their home life is organized and neatly routined.

  4. Create a homework space. If you have a math tutor coming to the house, it can be much easier to create a space specifically for homework. They’re going to be able to work in the one area where they know that they can get into the zone!

  5. Keep learning with your child. Their school is going to have different routines to yours. Learn with your children what their school expects and you will be in a position to help them to keep their routines and meet those expectations. You have to work closely with their school teachers to know how they are doing, and this will be better supported with a healthy home environment.

It’s so important that as a parent, you are involved in your children’s school life. You don't have to butt into their friendships but they will benefit from knowing you are there for them in every other way that matters. When you support your child, they grow and thrive.
