Finding the Path to Self Discovery and Enlightenment
Exploring spirituality isn't something that should be dismissed as something you don't need to do to help you explore more of who you are and what you are capable of.
Finding spiritual enlightenment can help you look and see what is beyond you, feel the power of your beliefs, and help you explore more about yourself and how you connect with your religion.
Finding enlightenment is a personal experience, and as such, it can occur at different times and in different ways to each person following this journey. Moreover, there isn't a strict set of rules per se, more like a gentle nudge to help you diverge onto your own path to discover your inner peace and direction in life.
So how can you find your way to spiritual enlightenment and explore more of this part of yourself?
Find the right connection for you.
This could be via finding enlightenment via your chosen religion or other spiritual beliefs you may hold. Whatever I'd personal for you and held more of a personal appeal to you.
Once you find the connection you wish to make, you can tailor your experience to maximize your benefit from choosing this path.
Set your intentions
Once you know which spiritual route you wish to take, you can then define your intentions for this. It can be as simple as I want to find out more about *insert an aspect of your religion or beliefs here* or I want to achieve Ascension and self-realization.
Once you know what you aim to get from this experience, you know what path you should be looking at before embarking on your journey.
Be honest with yourself.
What do you really know and think? It is OK if you have some negative thoughts or feelings about the process or those around you.
Where you start doesn't matter. But being honest about how you feel, how you want to feel, and knowing exactly what you want to change and why will set you off on the right path. Being able to address you at this point honestly will enable you to achieve enlightenment more satisfyingly.
Remove your ego from the equation.
Having a healthy ego is good. However, ego is a by-product of the world around us, and sometimes we can have a false sense of ego and our importance in the world. Analyze how this ego affects your life and whether you can lose it for the greater good. Look inside yourself and ask if you can be more humble and put your ego to one side for the sake of those around you and initiate apologies based on your behavior and overinflated ego.
Take time out to stop and think.
This step is important every day. It allows you time to assess and realize who you are full.
Use this time to meditate or practice mindfulness to allow yourself to be in the moment fully. This time can allow you to fully connect with your spiritual inner self and give you a set time each day to quieten your mind and absolve yourself of your thoughts and stress.
Don't neglect your body.
While spiritual enlightenment might feel like it is all in your mind, neglecting your body can help you increase your enlightenment's power and really actualize what you want to happen.
Movement, exercise such as swimming, dancing yoga plates, and so on are all ways of connecting with your body and giving it the movement it needs to sustain you. If you neglect your body, you will feel that I'm your mind, so capturing this feeling during your physical journey is just as important as your emotional journey.
Enjoy this time
It isn't a deep and serious journey, far from it. It is about finding out what makes you who you are and creating a better, more enjoyable life through enlightenment. This means you need to evoke joy in your life. Laugh with your friends! Enjoy the silliness of life and appreciate everything you have going on to include each important aspect of your life fully.
Embrace your fears
Fear breeds negativity and the last thing you want is anything holding you back, especially negativity. What scares you the most, and how can you conquer your fear? This is a deeply personal and profound experience and should be approached to remove the fear from the aspect of what you are afraid of and nurtures and new respect and understanding of this fear to help you overcome it.
Find time to pray.
While praying is deeply associated with religion and not so much spirituality, it is also possible that you may need to pray or undergo a pilgrimage of your chosen religion or spirituality. Whatever this means for you, embrace it and enjoy everything this part of the journey offers you.
Much like physical meditation, prayer is a way to help you achieve serenity and experience that connection you are looking for.
Look out for signs
You might come to notice that you are coming across strange coincidences or nudges in certain directions along your journey. This is the universe's way of pointing you in the right direction or giving you subtle answers to your questions.
The random occurrences could be major or minor sequences that all point to the same thing. But make sure to keep your eyes and ears open for them, so you don't miss them. It could be beneficial to write a letter with any questions you might have or anything you have been searching for to throw this out into the world and give you the time to await your answer.
Make it your own
Lastly, this journey of enlightenment and self-discovery is unique to you—the path you choose to take and how you travel that path. As we mentioned earlier, there are no hard and fast rules, so why stick to any rules or guidance, mix it up, try different things, and see what works for you. You never know; you might get the answer you were looking for!
