Getting More From Your Internet Access
We all have internet access, and we all have our common uses for it daily. The majority of people are on social media, and it’s what we use to keep ourselves in the loop with our peers - especially during Covid-19. So while we’re all spending so much time online, maybe it’s time to figure out how we can get more from it. There’s so much you use the internet for, and there’s so much you can learn; it’s just the effort it takes to implement it into our lives that stops us. Well, it’s easy once you get started, all you need is some inspiration!
Connect with family
There’s never been a better time to start getting more connected with people online, and your family is likely going to be the first and foremost on your priority list. Making use of online tools allows for many ways for you to keep connected with your family, even if you can’t visit them personally! Maybe you’ve started video chatting with friends and family to keep in touch during lockdown. As you’ve probably experienced, video chatting can be pretty awful if you have a slow internet connection. If you’re having problems with your internet, consider running an internet speed test to see if you need better a better connection to run your video chats with family!
A lot of people use Google Drive to keep their work in one place while being able to edit and create documents for free, but it can be used for much more than that. Tools like Google Drive and Onedrive allow for you to create shared folders, where you can store photos of the things you’ve been doing and others who have access can see it in real-time! It’s like social media, but more personal and private!
Staying in the loop
Just like reaching family is important, keeping yourself sociable has been growing more and more difficult with the lockdown restrictions, and so we have to find new ways to interact with others. Thankfully, the internet is home to a variety of different social media sites for you to use, all with their own uses! Take TikTok for example, there are often many fun trends to take part in, and it goes beyond just speaking and interacting with others. There are many who use it for their main source of entertainment, learning or just staying on top of current events.
Sites like Instagram and Twitter are similar, and they can also help you stay on top of current trends, making sure you don’t miss out on any of your interests!
The pandemic has put many things in our lives on hold, and it can be difficult for anyone to stay in the loop with all that’s gone on. Thankfully, most things posted on the internet are accessible for you at any time, and you can read up on anything that’s passed and gone. You can read news from some time ago about your favorite interests, articles like Covid-19 and the 2020 NBA bubble, or tips on how you can deal with the lockdown. It hasn’t been easy for anyone to handle, and keeping in the loop can make things easier.
Educating yourself
If there’s something that everyone should be using the internet for, it’s education. There’s so much you can learn when you spend time online, and you have your choice of almost anything there is to know. Not only do you have an incredibly wide variety of subjects to learn, but you also will find many different forms of teaching; meaning there’s going to be something for everyone.
Duolingo is one of the most popular language-learning apps that many people use all over the world. If you’re interested in learning another language, this should be something that you’re interested in. Firstly, it’s free to use, and it can be a great place for you to start. You’re prompted every day to keep on top of your learning, and there’s a leaderboard that shows you your rank compared to others, incentivizing you to compete with your learning. While it might not be your primary choice for learning a new language, it can definitely be a great starting place.

Udemy is a similar story, except you don’t pay for a subscription, and you pay for separate courses instead. Udemy constantly has sales going on on their courses, so you can make big savings if you know what you want in advance and keep an eye out for the next discount!
Entertainment subscriptions
Everyone needs a way to wind-down after a stressful day, and what better way to do that than having a lazy evening and binge-watching a new show. Sadly, most shows require a subscription for you to access, but they can be well worth it if they keep you entertained for hours! Netflix being one of the most popular movie and TV show providers keeps its popularity for a reason, and you’re sure to find something of interest when you’re looking for something to watch. The amount of households with a subscription to Netflix or others like Huli or Amazon video is growing rapidly, and it’s something that we all need to keep ourselves entertained.
Online shopping
It can be hard to trust others with your money and personal information, and it becomes even more difficult when you cannot see or communicate with them. Online shopping can be risky if you’re careless, but it can make your life much easier if you know how to look out for reliable stores. Going out right now is a risk in itself, and there’s not much need to go shopping when you can have almost everything you need delivered to your door. Some cost is usually added to the delivery, but when you think about the time and effort you’re saving - it works out to be worth it in the end!
