6 Tricks To Help You Organize The Photos On Your Phone
Having a high quality camera on your smartphone is so great. You never miss an opportunity to take a great photo and you can store all of those memories in one easy to reach place. Well, at least that’s how it works in theory. But if you actually look at the camera roll on your phone, it’s probably a big mess of random photos and if you wanted to look at a specific photo, would you be able to find it?
Most people don’t bother organizing the photos on their phone, which means that they take pictures that they never look at again, which kind of defeats the point. A cluttered camera roll also causes problems when you upgrade your phone because, instead of choosing the pictures that you actually want to keep and getting rid of the rest, you just end up transferring them over and wasting memory. But if you spend some time sorting through all of those photos, you can save space and make sure that you can actually find the photos that you want to look at again. These are some of the best ways to organize the photos on your phone.
Create Some Photo Albums
Splitting photos up into different albums is the easiest way to get on top of the clutter. You can organize albums in any way that you want, so you could split them up into different time periods or have some for family, friends or travel. It’s also a good idea to create a favorites folder for all of the photos that you want to access on a regular basis. However, you decide to do it, make a few different albums to categorize all of your photos and things will instantly be a lot easier to navigate. It can be time consuming to go through all of your photos and put them into different albums but after you have done it once, it’s easy to file all of your new photos away in the right place.
Creating shared albums is another great way to keep all of your important photos together and access great photos that your family and friends have taken. Once you set up a shared album, everybody that has access can move their photos into the album at any time. It’s a good way to stay organized and keep up with friends or family that you don’t see very often.
Store Old Photos
When you are sorting through all of your photos and putting them into albums, you will probably find some that you don’t want to get rid of but you also don’t need on your phone all of the time. You can free up some space without losing those photos if you store them elsewhere. If you use an iPhone, you can store all of your photos on iCloud but if you want a hard copy, you can use external drives for iphone instead. They work in the same way as a flash drive that you plug into your computer so you can easily copy all of your photos over. Clearing some of the old photos off your phone will make it easier to organize and free up some space, so you should notice that it runs faster as well.
Delete Useless Photos
We take a lot of useless photos these days, especially people that spend all of their time on social media. But do you really need 10 different angles of the same selfie stored on your phone? If you keep all of these useless photos, you will just clutter up your phone and make it harder to stay organized, so when you have sorted all of the photos that you want to keep into different albums, you should delete the rest.
Add Facial Recognition
Facial recognition is available on most new phones and if you have that feature, you should make use of it. If you click on a photo and go into the menu, you should be able to add it to a ‘people’ folder. Click on the face and then type in the name of the person, so the phone can recognize it. That way, if you want to see pictures of a friend or family member that you are missing, you can easily pull up all of the photos you have of them, even if they are sorted into different folders. Some phones also have a ‘group faces’ function so it will automatically group all pictures of the same person for you. Over time, your phone learns to recognize the different faces when you take a photo and it will automatically sort them for you.
Use Geotagging
Using facial recognition to sort photos of people is great, but what about photos of places? Geotagging is the easiest way to group all of the same photos of a certain country or city. If you go into the camera settings on your phone, you can turn the geotagging option on (sometimes it will be called location or something similar). This will automatically save the GPS location of the photo every time you take a picture. You can then search for a location and bring up all of the photos that were taken there.
Improve Your Photography Skills
The reason that our phones get clogged up with photos is that we take so many. But if you can cut down on the number of photos you take and go for quality over quantity, it’s a lot easier to stay on top of things. Spend some time practising your photography skills and finding ways to improve, so you can get great photos first time and you don’t have to take 10 shots of everything that you want to capture. You can also get some great lenses that attach to the back of your smartphone and allow you to take professional quality photos with your phone.
Being able to take photos whenever you like is great, but it’s important that you stay on top of your camera roll and keep it organized, or you will never look at those photos.
