Fun and Unusual Ways To Get In Shape

When it comes to exercise and getting fit, how many of us just choose the standard route of getting a gym membership? While it can be a good way to go as everything is all in one place, it can be a little dull for some. If running on a treadmill and lifting weights sounds like a surefire way to get you not to exercise, then you might be looking for some more enjoyable alternatives. Exercising is important for our health and wellbeing. But it isn’t going to happen if you are only choosing things that you don’t enjoy. So how about trying out some of these?

Pole Fitness

This phenomenon has been taking over, and no, it isn’t about wearing lingerie and heels. When you learn to hold your own body weight up against a pole, you are going to be getting mega fit and lean in the process. With it becoming more and more popular, there are likely to be pole fitness studios pretty close by to you, for sure.

Aerial Yoga

Yoga on a mat can be fun and a great way to stay fit and tone up. But aerial yoga brings a whole new level of fun to working out. You can perform some pretty epic poses using the harness, which can be motivating to keep going back. It can be a good way to tone up, as well as stretch and strengthen as you use the harness to pull yourself and perform certain moves.

Diving and Snorkeling

If you live close by to the ocean, then being able to use that as your gym can be really amazing. Swimming can be fun, but it is even more of a challenge at sea, making you work a  little harder. Diving is also a fun way to exercise, as well as scuba diving or snorkeling. If you really got into it you could get yourself some spearfishing gear and make that a part of your work out too. You’ll also want to brush up on your diving skills to make sure you’re ready to go out into the water. Diving can be dangerous, espescially if you're inexperienced or if the weather is poor. Before getting into the water, read up on these scuba diving tips to ensure you're ready for any situation. Ultimately, however, diving helps your cardio as well as strength, as you use so many muscles in your body when you swim.

Bounce

A trampoline of your own in the backyard can be used for exercise, as you can burn plenty of calories. You can improve your fitness and endurance while you do it. If that isn’t an option for you, then more and more bounce classes are cropping up all over the country, where the class takes part using mini-trampolines. It can be an amazing calorie burner, as well as a fun way to get fit and enjoy exercise.

Team Sports

Some of the reason why people find working out at the gym quite dull is because you are doing something by yourself. Many people enjoy the competitive nature, as well as the camaraderie that comes from team sports. So if that sounds like you, it is a good idea to look for somewhere local to you where you can join a team. It could be basketball, soccer, tennis, or one thing that is growing in popularity is ultimate frisbee.
