Natural Ways to Maintain Your Youthful Good Looks
Taking care of your appearance isn’t about being vain or conceited; the way we look influences the way others perceive us, and can massively affect our confidence levels too. There’s nothing at all wrong with ‘growing old disgracefully’ where you take to drastic measures like body sculpting operations and face lifts if that’s what you want to do, but extreme options aren’t always necessary. If you start early and build a good routine you can maintain your youthful good looks for as long as possible. Here are some ideas for going about it!
Diet and exercise
First things first, if you take care of your health then it also has the benefit of giving your appearance a boost. Stay hydrated, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and get enough lean protein for your needs. Not only will you look better but you’ll feel better too, and everyone looks more beautiful when they have a smile on their face.
Teeth
Speaking of smiling, your teeth are an important part of your appearance that can start declining over time. If you feel as though yours have lost their sparkle, try natural whitening methods like oil pulling and charcoal toothpaste. If your teeth need repairing, straightening or filling then this is of course a job for the dentist, but if you just want to make them look whiter and brighter there’s plenty you can try at home.
Skin and haircare
When you’re having a bad skin and hair day, chances are you’ll generally feel rubbish. Maybe it’s acne, or flaky dry skin. Your hair might be lank and limp, or dry and frizzy. Go to a salon and have them cut off any dead ends, and then work on bringing it back to life. Oils such as coconut, avocado and argan oil have been shown to be really useful in revitalising hair, it’s something you’ll need to stick with but over time you’ll definitely notice the difference. When it comes to your skin, use gentle, natural products that will hydrate and wont cause damage. If you have more significant skin issues then you might need to speak to your GP or a dermatologist to get to the route of the problem.
Makeup and styling
Finally, the way you style and present yourself will make a big difference to your appearance. As we get older it becomes tempting to try and look younger, however this often has the opposite affect. Dressing for your age in a way that’s flattering and suits you is a much better option. When it comes to your makeup, you might need to change up your look as you get older and wrinkles start to appear, the wrong makeup will just make you look older. Have fun with your look, but avoid going down the ‘mutton dressed as lamb’ route as you’ll do yourself much more justice wearing what suits you!
