Senateens: Electing Democrats in 2020
Election season is just around the corner and many are getting ready to run. Many Democrats are running to take back the Senate in 2020. In order to take back the Senate, they need all the help they can get. If a Republican Vice-President is elected in 2020, then Democrats need four more seats to fill in order to take back the Senate. The process to take back the Senate for Democrats will not be easy, which is why a grassroots youth-run political organization called Senateens was created.
Senateens is a grassroots youth-run political organization that helps young citizens get involved in campaigning and electing Democrats to the United States Senate in 2020. This organization summarizes how the Senate plays a large role in the Congress and that there are 12 Democratic senators running for re-election. They also gave a summary on how the Senate works in Congress and explained how crucial it is to elect a Democratic Senate for the sake of the future of the United States.
The mission of Senateens is described below.
Defend the 12 Democratic senators up for reelection next November.
Help Democrats challenge Republicans in competitive and non-competitive states through voter registration, media outreach, phonebanking, canvassing, and campaigning.
Remove barriers for political participation for youth.
Allow youth from lower-income background to participate.
All of the work within the organization is remote and you get to work with other youth from other states in the United States. The work is flexible so it does not interfere with your schedule much. Through Senateens, youth gain more understanding of the political process of electing people.
Political organizations like Senateens exists to help youth get more involved in the political process in order to have a better future for all. It is important for youth to get involved in such organizations like Senateens because they are the future in this country. What they can get out from getting involved in political organizations is to understand issues that affect everyone in this country, how are our leaders make decisions regarding issues, and what we can do to get involved to improve the future of our country.
There are several positions available for youth to get involved in with Senateens. They have positions of regional director, team outreach, and other volunteer positions that young participants can apply for. The organization is still growing, especially as we get closer to 2020.
