10 Albums We Can't Wait to Hear in 2018

Looking back, it's safe to say that 2017 – with all of its scary moments and let-downs – wasn't a great year. Despite it all, we pushed through, and we stuck together, united by one of the best things we're bringing with us into 2018: the music. While it is too early to tell where this year will take us, and whether it will be as bad as the last, one thing is certain: the music is going to be fantastic, and these 10 albums were so worth the wait.

1. The 1975, "Music for Cars" - 1st of June

After releasing the widely acclaimed "I Love It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It", that reached No. 1 in the US, the British indie-pop band is set to release a new album, "Music for Cars", sometime this year. While not much is known about the record, and no release date has been set, the band's eccentric and intriguing frontman, Matt Healy, has had this to say about recording the album: “If it doesn’t make me physically dance or cry within the first 48 hours we normally get rid of it." Needless to say, we're sold.

2. Superchunk, "What a Time to Be Alive" - 16th of February

The wait is over for Superchunk fans after almost 5 years without any new music - and boy was it worth it. Ironically titled "What a Time to Be Alive", their eleventh album houses eleven protest songs addressing the current situation in the US, as well as the Trump administration. The first song was released back in November, and it was enough to get us pumped about the release. Thankfully, we won't be waiting long to hear the rest of the album, as the release date for "What a Time to Be Alive" is set for February 16th.

3. Brockhampton, “Team Effort” - TBA

Following Brockhampton has been a roller coaster of emotions - the first three albums took the indie world by storm and then, as we looked forward to more, they announced that Saturation 3 would be the last time we'd hear from them. Turns out they had one more surprise up their sleeve, because despite their previous statement, a fourth album, titled "Team Effort," was announced. There is, however, no release date yet, so we'll have to stay tuned.

4. Calpurnia, TBA - TBA

This rock band, who's frontman is no other than Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard, is about to make 2018 its year. After signing a record deal with Canadian label Royal Mountain Records, heading on a tour around Canada and the US and selling out shows, the band is preparing to drop an EP with Cadien Lake James, Twin Peaks' front man, who's song "I Wanted You" they recently covered on their Youtube channel. There is no word of a name or release date yet, however Wolfhard has spoken in previous interviews about wanting to releasing an album.

5. Arctic Monkeys, TBA - TBA

After the hit songs "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" and "Do I Wanna Know?", off their self-titled album, dropped in 2013, the band seemingly took some time to focus on side projects, with frontman Alex Turner focusing on the rock supergroup The Last Shadow Puppets that brought together major names in music such as Miles Kane, James Ford and Zach Dawnes. Well, now, 5 years of painful silence later, the modern rock band is preparing for its comeback, as their new album is set to drop sometime this year.

6. Florence + The Machine, TBA - TBA

"How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful", released back in 2015, was everything anyone could've ever wanted from an album, so when things turned somewhat quiet for almost 3 years, fans were worried. However, a new album is on the indie rock band's horizon, and by the looks of it, it's going to be amazing. Florence has previously said that this new album is going to be exploring a "black hole," as well as her personal life.

7. Rae Sremmurd, “Sremmlife 3” - TBA

After the 2016 Sremmlife 2 dropped, earning Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee their first Hot 100 no. 1 track and massive recognition around the world, new tracks from the duo became highly anticipated. While living up to the previous album might seem like an impossible task, it's safe to assume that these two are going to have no trouble breaking some more records soon enough, when the new album is released. Unfortunately, we do not yet know when exactly that will be.

8. Ariana Grande, TBA - TBA

Following the tragedy at her 2017 Manchester show, whether Ariana was going to be releasing an album this year or not was uncertain. However, the artist ended her 2017 with an Instagram post showing that she was back in the studio, captioning it with "see you next year," and needless to say, fans are stoked. However, there is no release date to look forward to yet.

9. Cardi B, TBA - TBA

You've probably all heard of Cardi B by now, who came to save our 2017 and bless us with the masterpiece that is "Bodak Yellow." What you might have not heard, however, is that she's been working on her solo debut, and it's set to drop sometime this year. There's no release date, as the rapper has previously tweeted "I’m going to take my time till it’s right," so we're just going to have to patiently wait for the next announcement.

10. Liam Payne, TBA – January 2018

It's safe to say 2017 was THE year for One Direction bandmates Harry, Niall, Liam and Louis, as well as their former bandmate Zayn. With multiple No. 1 songs and albums from the other members, Liam and Louis remain the last to put out an entire record. After the release of this top 10 "Strip That Down" featuring Quavo, as well as some other songs like "Get Low" and "Bedroom Floor", we can't wait to see what he does next.
