Meter Monday #2: Crocodile Tears
by Harika Kottakota
I still catch
All your crocodile tears
Upon my naked arms
As stark shivers ricochet
Along my spine
Towards my rattling heart
Your crocodile tears congeal
Into my second skin—
One pinprick away from collapse—
Refracting a million of me,
A billion of your bluest eye
Relentless, your crocodile tears
Smothered my hopes
Of salvaging the old bliss
Our warm palms pressing
Crease to crease, pulse to pulse
I can no longer decipher
Your crocodile tears from my own
As they merge and adhere
Melding our limbs together until
We are nothing more
Than a mosaic of frosted glass
