Astronaut Kimiya Yui blasted off into space early Thursday morning. He was accompanied by two other astronauts, one Russian and one American. Yui also disclosed that he has brought along sushi to surprise the others.

Beloved writer E.L. Doctorow passed away on a Tuesday in a hospital in New York. He had been suffering from lung cancer. Doctorow was most famously known for “Ragtime” and “The March” and will be dearly missed by many. President Obama tweeted about him, calling him “one of America’s greatest novelists.”

The royal family celebrated Prince George’s 2nd birthday on July 22nd. During a guard change, the royal band played George a very special “Happy Birthday” tune.
