What made you interested in learning more about Vietnamese culture?

I've always had a strong attachment to my origins. My parents were born and raised in Vietnam, and I was always really interactive in our Vietnamese communities. I fell in love with how different everything was from America, everything from the clothes to the food. Each culture is its own little world, and I love embracing mine.

That is so cool Rachel! What are some of your favorite elements about your culture?

One of my most favorite aspects of my culture is the traditional music. I love the sound of the traditional instruments! I adore traditional culture, so another favorite aspect falls under that category. I love our traditional outfits. It is very simple, yet elegant; this makes it convenient to wear, even in this modern society.

You are a very inspiring woman. What advice do you give to girls like you who are striving to learn more about different cultures?

The best way to learn about different cultures is to experience them yourself, and this can occur in numerous ways. You can indulge yourself in a book that focuses on a particular culture. You can also taste the variety of food that culture contains. Sometimes, if possible, just attending a friend's family party can introduce an entirely new cultural setting to you.
