Empower Yourself By Saying 'Yes'

We don’t get more than one life except in video games. There aren’t any do-overs and, so far, scientists haven’t figured out how to go back in time and start again. With this in mind, it’s important that you understand the meaning of saying ‘yes’ to as many opportunities as you can in the course of your life. When an opportunity presents itself in your life, you should try to be impulsive where you can. They always come along just when they’re supposed to, in so many ways and when an opportunity presents itself that could improve your life and add enrichment to it, saying ‘yes’ is the least that you could do.

It doesn’t matter whether you are young and starting out in the world, or you’re settled with a family, there is always time to make changes, take chances and make the dreams that you’ve always had a reality. You could decide to ditch being at home and go back to school, learning more for yourself and gaining a degree that you didn’t get a chance to. You could choose to take the promotion your boss has offered you halfway around the world. After all, the kids could enrol in Wellington International High School and continue their education elsewhere; children are adaptable, and your career is important. People will tell you to put the children first – and you are! You are expanding their cultural experiences, giving them the chance to live abroad and nurturing a career that you’ll need to lean on when they grow up and leave home. It’s a win-win all around.

Deciding to give up negativity throughout your life doesn’t mean agreeing to everything; there is an element of common sense to be had, of course. Getting out of your comfort zone and embracing new experiences is what life is all about. Sometimes, the opportunities that present themselves to us, from promotions at work to a degree class that comes our way via a poster or an email, can feel uncomfortable. These opportunities aren’t bad ones, but they’re those that can shake your life up and make all the neat boxes that you have filled turn upside down – and sometimes that just won’t do. It’s okay to take your time and take the challenges that you feel comfortable with, but you should also be open to offers that could change things for you. You could say yes right now, but then change your mind. The point here is that it’s better to experience something and know that you hate it, than to say no and always wonder ‘what if’.

There’s one main reason that you could say ‘yes’ today: because you can. You can take on any opportunity that comes your way with interest and excitement all because you are allowed to do whatever you want to do. Being the master – or mistress – of your own destiny is how you can feel empowered to experience more of life and expand your mind and your own experiences.
