Have Trouble Trusting Doctors? Trust In Progress

Have Trouble Trusting Doctors? Trust In Progress

If you have been around for this planet for long enough, then you’ve probably had more than one thing go wrong in your life. That is just the nature of this place, where things seemingly go wrong, no matter how well managed they are or how well you planned them in advance. Sometimes things just go astray, and there is not much we can do about it, no matter how trained you are and no matter what profession you do, even as a doctor. If you have had some previous negative experiences with some doctors before, that’s understandable, it can happen, but don’t let it leave you burnt forever. You may have had some negative encounters with sub-par performance, but staying away from all doctors no matter what, which happens more often than one would think, can be rather detrimental to you and your wellbeing.

Repairing that trust

Broken trust is a terrible thing, especially in situations where someone is professionally trained to carry out a certain service but they fail. That said, every person is different, and just because one person didn’t do as well as they could have, does not mean others will follow suit. Fortunately, there is more to reassure yourself with than just trust towards humans.

Believe in progress

If you can’t believe in human abilities, believe in the new state of the art technology which is used in hospitals and clinics across the globe. Whether it’s the latest advances in in vivo imaging, or the latest stem cell research successes, there is a lot to look forward to and admire already.

Medical institutes are using augmented reality to train their students using software from companies like 3D4Medical, allowing students to learn about the anatomy of any given body without the necessity of having to cut someone open. This can also be used to run tests and simulations with relative ease compared to the amount of previous endeavours required to do something like this.

We currently live in an era where head transplants are almost a reality. If that isn’t impressive, then it’s hard to imagine what is, well, other than an actual head transplant on a living patient of course. Right now, the only “successful” head transplant was carried out on a corpse, but doing the same procedure on a live human does not seem too far away right now. In fact, there already is a volunteer. Of course, scientists are aware that just chopping people’s heads off for “extremely long shot experiments” is not acceptable, so some things still have to be worked on, but the possibility is somewhere on the horizon.

Bioprinting is as useful and as cool as it sounds, and it is essentially the 3D printing of originally organic materials, for example, liver tissue. In fact, Organovo has announced their successful bioprinting of liver tissue in 2014, and according to them printing actual liver tissue for the purpose of transplantation could become an actual medical service within the next decade or so.
