So You've Booked A Cruise...Now What?

If you’ve booked a cruise, you have a lot to look forward to. However, there are a few things you should do after you’ve booked to ensure you have the best time. Read on to figure out where you go from here!

Look For Airfares

You need to be able to get to the embarkation point before you go off on your adventure. Some people aren’t lucky enough to be within driving distance of this place, so you may need to look for airfares to get there. The earlier you look, the cheaper these tend to be. Don’t put it off until the last minute!

Get Some Travel Insurance

Even though you’re going to be on one ship the whole time, it doesn’t make you exempt from travel insurance. There are lots of things to do on the ship, and you’ll have opportunities to get off the ship too. Travel insurance is crucial, and making sure it covers the things you want to do is important too. There’s no point splashing out on hand picked cruises if you’re not going to protect yourself. Make sure you’re smart and choose a travel insurance policy that suits you. Don’t just go for the cheapest one!

Double Check Your Passport

So many people only realize their passport is out of date when they barely have any time to renew it. You don’t want to give yourself a heart attack waiting for it to be delivered. Make sure you double check it and have it renewed if you need to.

Get The Time Off

If you haven’t already got the time off work, then make sure you have it secured. You may also want to ensure your parents can look after the kids if this is something just you and your partner plan on doing. Getting these things in place early will give you peace of mind.

Plan Your Excursions

Have a look online and you should be able to plan your excursions. You’ll be able to see what’s coming up and then figure out whether you’d like to do them or not. Don’t worry; you don’t need to decide right away. In fact, you can change your mind once you’re on the ship. However, having a good idea of what you’d like to do will make your trip go much more smoothly.

Decide On Your Dining Preferences

There are a few different dining preferences you can go for on cruises. It may depend on the cruise you’ve chosen, but you can either dine formally at set times or informally at restaurants of your choice. In some cases you pay for meals separate, in others you may have them included in the price.

Keep An Eye Out For Price Drops

Sometimes, prices will drop after you’ve already paid. If you keep an eye out for these and call up, you may be able to get a bonus, such as a balcony upgrade. This can make your trip so much better and you’ll be thrilled at the value for money!
